Getting started
Is TalkToRoy free?
Yes. You can use Prompter and Record for free in the browser. A free account is only needed if you want to save and organise your work.
Do I need to install anything?
No. TalkToRoy runs entirely in your browser — desktop, tablet, or phone. Nothing to download or install.
What can I do with TalkToRoy?
You can write or upload a script, use the prompter to read it, record a take in the browser, and save scripts for later.
Can I upload a script file?
Yes. You can upload a .txt, .docx, or .pdf file and TalkToRoy will load the text into the editor.
Using the prompter
How do I start?
Add your script, adjust the reading view, and press Play. If you stop, you can start again from where you left off.
Can I change how the script looks?
Yes. You can adjust things like text size, line height, margin, speed, fullscreen, and mirror options so the read feels comfortable.
What is the Speakers button for?
It helps you colour-code different voices in the script, which is useful for interviews, dialogue, or multi-person reads.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. TalkToRoy is designed to work on desktop, iPad, and iPhone with controls adapted for each screen size.
Recording
What happens in Record?
Record keeps the camera live in the background while your script stays visible on top, so you can read and capture a take in one place.
Do I need camera and microphone permission?
Yes. Your browser needs permission to use the camera and microphone before recording can start.
Can I use a saved script in Record?
Yes. If you have saved scripts, you can load them into the recording flow and keep the same content ready for the take.
How do I save the video?
After recording, you can review the take and save or share it, depending on the device and browser you are using.
Saving and projects
How do I save a script?
Click Save. If you are not logged in yet, TalkToRoy sends you to the free login flow first.
What are projects?
Projects are shared spaces for teams. They help keep related scripts together and make it easier to work from the same material.
Can I work across devices?
Yes. When you save with your account, you can come back later from another device and continue from there.
